Carrier has cooled many prestigious landmark buildings in China, including the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, the Oriental Pearl Television Tower and Pudong Jinmao Tower in Shanghai, the Olympic Stadium in Guangzhou, and Shaanxi History Museum in Xi'an, 2008 Beijing Olympic venues, 2010 Shanghai Expo venues in particular.
In recent years Carrier has substantially increased the investment in China to expand its presence in the local market. In 2004, Carrier opened a US$15 million compressor center in Yileng Factory, which is Carrier's largest joint venture in China. In April 2005, Carrier held a groundbreaking ceremony for its global research and development (R&D) center in Shanghai's Pudong area. Carrier has projected that it intends to spend an additional US$50 million in China during the next few years on R&D, including this center.
